Mike Bowling, toymaker with a mission, announces his first country and western song

Mike Bowling, the original creator of the iconic Pound Puppies toy line, has teamed up with rising country artist Ryan Larkins and nonprofit K9s For Warriors to release a powerful new country anthem, “Who Rescued Who.”

The song, co-written by Mike Bowling and James Slater, premiered at  CMA Fest and garnered nearly a quarter of a million streams in its first 10 days.  The song tells the story of mutual rescue between man and dog — a theme Bowling knows intimately. Having saved many dogs himself over the years, Bowling says the song represents more than nostalgia. “This isn’t just a song — it’s a story of second chances,” he shared.

A portion of all song royalties are being donated by Mike Bowling to K9s For Warriors, the nation’s largest provider of trained service dogs to military veterans. The organization’s CEO Daniel Bean shared,

“Every time someone downloads this song, they’re helping a veteran get matched with a dog that could change — or even save — their life,” said Bean.

Mike Bowling’s legacy began in the 1980s when he created Pound Puppies, a toy line that brought millions of “abandoned” plush pets into the hearts of children. Today, he's continuing that legacy through music, storytelling, and philanthropy.“Whether it’s a toy, a book, or a song — my goal has always been the same: to bring comfort, hope, and love,” said Bowling.
