Mike Bowling, toy inventor reinvents himself – book release May 24

Posted

Mike Bowling, toy inventor, entrepreneur, and motivational speaker, will release his book "The Secret of the Wolf Pendant," Saturday, May 24, at 1:30 p.m. at Story & Song Center for Arts & Culture.

Best known for his Pound Puppies, which was named one of the Toy Industry Association’s top 100 toy lines in the last 100 years, Mike also inspired a successful cartoon series and a movie with Hanna Barbera. It’s little wonder that Mike’s creativity has continued and his latest invention is a novel about Buster, a young beagle who is left to fend for himself deep in the forest.

“Along the way, I had a chance to rescue a few dogs from the “pound” and love them with all my heart, Mike explains. “One of my most special real dogs was Buster, the name of the hero dog in my book.”

Buster meets 12-year-old Angie, who faces adversity of her own, but fate has brought them together to face the troubles that await. According to Cherokee legend, Angie’s beaded necklace with a crystal pendant, passed down from her mother, is expected to hold magical powers. When all hope is lost and lives are in danger, will the power of the pendant come to the rescue?

Mike Bowling will be in conversation with Dearsha Johnson, Story & Song’s Director of Children’s Programming on Saturday, May 24 at 1:30 p.m. at Story & Song Center for Arts & Culture. The program is free, yet reservations are required.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase and Mike Bowling will personalize copies after the program. Signed books will be available for purchase after the event at Story & Song Bookstore Bistro.

To RSVP, visit Story & Song.
