Lori Roy, whose work has been twice named outstanding crime fiction by the New York Times and nominated for Best International Thriller Writer, is the guest author at Story & Song's Literary Luncheon on July 10 at 12:30 p.m.
Her debut novel, "Bent Road," published in 2011, was awarded the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best First Novel by an American Author. Her second book, "Until She Comes Home," was a finalist for Mystery Writers of America Edgar Award, and her third book, "Let Me Die in His Footsteps," won the Edgar for best novel. On track to release another thriller every 2-3 years, Roy’s seventh book, "The Final Episode," was published at the end of last month.
It's no surprise that Roy, who lives with her family in west Central Florida, sets her most recent novel in the Big Cypress Swamp in south Florida, where 11-year-old Jennifer Jones and her best friends spend every summer. When 10-year-old Francie Farrow is taken by an intruder from her bedroom, Jennifer hopes to gain the "second sight" foretold by family legend and fulfill her destiny to do something great by finding Francie.
Lori Roy will be in conversation with local attorney Elizabeth Walker, who has tried dozens of similar cases.
