Chandler’s Hope was the recent recipient of a sizeable donation from Women of Nassau (WON) which raised the funds by sponsoring a Royal Tea event held earlier this year. One hundred and twenty men and women from Wildlight, Amelia National, Tributary, Amelia Walk, North Hampton, Amelia Island, Hilliard, Yulee and Fernandina Beach attended. The donation allowed Chandler’s Hope, Nassau County’s only mobile clothes closet, to purchase a double axle trailer.
“It is with profound gratitude that I accept this generous gift from WON on behalf of Chandler’s Hope. There is an overwhelming need in the county to help adults and children rise up from poverty to feel dignified and have a purpose. Our goal is to make Chandler’s Hope a stepping stone for that journey,” said Michele Holbrook, co-president of Chandler’s Hope.
Founded in December 2023, Chandler’s Hope Closet was born from profound loss and a powerful desire to bring healing and dignity to others. It was established by Michele Holbrook and Colleen Perry, two mothers united in grief after the tragic passing of their children, both lost to addiction.
Women of Nassau (WON) is a nonprofit, volunteer organization dedicated to enriching the Nassau County community by fostering relationships and generosity through its membership and support for each other.
WON’s Philanthropy Committee is dedicated to raising funds through a variety of activities throughout the year. Members of the Committee include Lena Beale, Nancy Cera, Vicki Gibson, Nancy Gallimore, Sue Kosciulek, Chong Murphy, Jan Post, Laura Thalwitzer and Sherry Vaughn.
Tickets to WON’s "A Royal Tea" event sold out in two days, according to Philanthropy Committee member Jan Post.
“It was a fun event for a special cause with tea sandwiches, scones, and hot tea served in the English tradition. Fourteen raffle baskets with a variety of themes including wine, beach materials, gardening items and more were donated by local stores and members. Along with being a welcome home to women in the county. WON is dedicated to helping to make a positive difference. We are delighted to help Chandler’s Hope in its important work.”
