Wild Nite guest speaker Jeff Norcini will discuss Wildflowers and how to help their pollinators.Wild Amelia’s first Wild Nite of the nine-month nature forum series will be held on Tuesday, September 11, at 7pm at the Peck Center Auditorium, 516 S. 10th Street in Fernandina Beach; the topic will be “Wildflowers,” and the guest speaker will be Jeff Norcini. He will talk about Florida Wildflowers and how to help their pollinators, as well as FDOT’s wildflower program.
Jeff is a private consultant (OecoHort, LLC) with native wildflower expertise in establishment and management of sustainable plantings, seed dormancy and germination, and production. Since July 2013, he has been under contract with the Florida Dept. of Transportation to provide assistance for matters regarding wildflowers, native plants, and horticulture in general. Before establishing OecoHort, Jeff was a faculty member with the University of Florida/IFAS at the North Florida Research & Education Center in Quincy from 1987 through March 2009. Jeff has a BS in Biology from Lock Haven University and an MS and Ph.D. in Horticulture from Penn State.
Like all Wild Nites, this presentation is free and open to the public.
Wild Amelia is an all-volunteer nonprofit with year-round educational programs for adults and children about the wildlife and wild places of the island and the bioregion. These programs culminate in a three-day Nature Festival; the 13th annual Wild Amelia Nature Festival will be held from May17-19, 2019.
