The city of Fernandina Beach is conducting a survey to determine what should replace Brett's Waterway Cafe once the restaurant is demolished in early 2026.
The city has sent out the survey link Brett's replacement poll in emails and also invited those interested to participate.
The survey site states: The lease between the City of Fernandina Beach and the Center Street Restaurant Group (Brett's) ends December 2025. Due to the age and integrity of the structure, the City intends to demolish this building the first of 2026. The City has contracted with Passero & Associates to provide redevelopment concepts and probable costs for this area of the downtown waterfront. The proposed options are shown below and the City welcomes your feedback. Passero's complete presentation, including full size renderings with detail, is available on the city's website.
The survey also asks how the cost of the replacement option should be paid for by the city either with paid parking revenue, property tax revenue or other revenue streams with detail.
