FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. — Barnabas Center invites the community to a simple but meaningful meal supporting neighbors in need. The 13th annual Empty Bowls Luncheon will take place Tuesday, Nov. 24, from noon to 1 p.m. at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island. The event raises funds for Barnabas Center's programs serving local individuals and families facing hunger and hardship. Ticket sales open Oct. 1, and seating is limited.
Nassau County community members will enjoy a simple meal of soup, bread and dessert to represent the modest meals many families that are struggling with hunger rely on every day. Guests will also take home a hand-painted ceramic bowl, a tangible reminder of the many empty bowls that still need to be filled.
"Jane and I are privileged to return as chairs again this year during the Thanksgiving season," Event Chairperson Jim DuCharme said. "With the steadfast support of The Ritz-Carlton, our transportation sponsor Omni Resorts Amelia Island and so many dedicated sponsors and volunteers, we are united in the effort to fill more bowls, and more hearts, across Nassau County."
Barnabas Center is deeply grateful to General Manager Greg Cook and the team at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, for once again hosting this special event. Their partnership continues to make Empty Bowls a cherished tradition.
Hundreds of community members and volunteers are painting ceramic bowls at paint party sessions at the Barnabas Center Studio, with more than 800 bowls expected. The bowls will be featured at the event and in an online auction opening in October, alongside one-of-a-kind bowls donated by local artists. Open painting continues every Wednesday through September, from 10 a.m. to noon at the studio, 1303 Jasmine St., Suite 104. Private sessions for up to 25 people are available Tuesdays, 4-6 p.m., with additional dates by request.
