DSCN0804 Crop 2Diana Metts was "emotionally attached" to one of Fernandina's old shot gun houses located on South 8th Street so she bought it! Now after years of ownership and repairs that included a new tin roof and demolition of what was once a dilapidated kitchen and bathroom addition, Metts found an owner for her treasured house.

Over a week ago, the house was lifted from its foundation and moved to its current site adjacent to retail shops to the west of  the former Beech Street Grill located on South 8th and Beech Streets.  In its new location, the house fits like a glove as it sits adjacent to newer constructed buildings to the west.

Metts' emotional attachment developed as a result of spending her childhood in Fernandina and living on South 7th Street where  the old house stood practically in her backyard.   She had known the people who lived there, and she wanted to protect it.

Thank you Diana! You are an outstanding preservationist!
