Florida Senator Aaron BeanMedia Release
From the office of Florida Senator Aaron Bean
December 13, 2017 12:55 p.m.
Senator Aaron Bean (R-Fernandina Beach) has announced that he will oppose SB 574, Tree and Timber Trimming, Removal, and Harvesting. The bill will preempt to the state the regulation of the trimming, removal, or harvesting of trees on private property. SB 574 also prohibits certain local governmental actions relating to the trimming or removal of trees or timber.
“Having served as the Mayor of Fernandina Beach, I understand the importance of home rule and allowing local governments to make their own decisions, especially regarding local tree ordinances,” said Senator Bean. “I oppose SB 574 because I believe local governments should have more say, not less, in how they want their communities to look.”
Senator Bean represents Senate District 4, which includes parts of Nassau and Duval Counties. He can be contacted in Tallahassee at (850) 487-5004 or in his District Office at (904) 757-5039.
