City Manager Dale Martin reports that despite social media rumors to the contrary, power will not be intentionally terminated during Hurricane Matthew. Reports on social media said the power would go out at 8:00 p.m. tonight.
In response to the rumors, Aleida Socarras, director of marketing and sales for Florida Public Utilities said important information is posted on the Florida Public Utilities website and customers can direct any questions as well.
According to the website, FPU is closely monitoring Hurricane #Matthew as it continues its path towards Florida. We are committed to keeping our customers informed during the storm and restoration process.
Other information provided by Martin indicated that the afternoon Emergency Management briefing had nothing new to report.
Around 5:00 p.m. today, Martin and Fire Chief Silcox, toured the city.
