Despite concerns voiced from County Manager Ted Selby, and Budget Director Shanea Jones, the Nassau County Commission voted 5 - 0 to avoid another year of tax increases.  According to Jim Shoettler in a Florida Times Union article "Nassau County Commission approves new budget, reserves further depleted," Jones warned commissioners, “This continued practice is unsustainable. You can’t continue to spend more than you bring in.”

During the budget process, the commission gave into citizens' concerns, and rejected a fire tax that would have helped close the budget gap. (Click here for previous story.) Commissioners are warning taxpayers to prepare for a big tax increase next year.
