Habitat for Humanity board members and volunteers gather to review plans for a second Habitat Townhome at "6 on Elm."

On Saturday, October 16, 2021, the Board of Directors of Nassau Habitat for Humanity hosted a kick-off breakfast at the Peck Center for their volunteers, as they are commencing work on their second set of townhomes on Elm and Vernon Streets.  About 30 people, including volunteers, board members and our newest Habitat homeowners, enjoyed treats provided by Diane’s Bakery while listening to presentations about the new building plans.

This build marks the beginning of phase two of the “6 on Elm” project, which includes three duplex townhomes, in a partnership with The Weaver Family Foundation and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The latest plans were unveiled at the breakfast.

The volunteers heard from NHFH Board Chair, Al Pertuz and Site Supervisor Gary Ruble who explained the project and answered questions.  The audience was introduced to several new Habitat homeowners as well as the homebuyer of the current project.

“There is a renewed energy as we start this build, and we expect a record number of volunteers, donations and homeowner applications,” said Debby Ruble- NHFH Board Member

Nassau Habitat is currently accepting applications for homeownership.  If you would like more information or to find out how to donate or volunteer, please visit our website: https://www.nassauhabitatforhumanity.org/
