Project Search is an international program servicing young adults with disabilities in obtaining job skills training through three, ten week internships during the course of the school year. The end goal is meaningful employment in the local community and host business. This school year Project Search is partnering with the Nassau County School District and the young adults will be interning at the main office buildings and local schools. Project Search is committed to the young adults mastering both work and social skills providing them with the tools needed for a successful career.
The Project Search young adults have been off to an amazing start this 2017-18 school year! Here are some of the highlights…
August 30th the young adults completed a community service project at the Jacksonville Zoo. They assisted in cleaning the zoo grounds and were then excited to support the opening of the new manatee rehabilitation facility including witnessing the release of two manatees into the tanks by the staff of Sea World and the Jacksonville Zoo.

September 1st the Project Search young adults completed a community service project at Fort Clinch State Park. They assisted in a cleaning and restoration project for the day and impressed the staff with their strong work ethic.
The week of September 4th the young adults were introduced to their internship mentors. At this initial meeting the interns presented their mentors with a personal biography sheet and completed a questionnaire sheet they felt necessary for a complete understanding of their internship.
Monday, September 18th was the BIG day all interns officially started their internships! This was delayed a week due to the visit from Irma. The interns have had an amazing first week demonstrating outstanding work ethic, attitude and attendance. They are participating in internships at one of three site locations which include: Fernandina Beach High School, Fernandina Beach Middle School and the Nassau County District Office. Internship opportunities include: Custodial Assistant, Culinary Assistant, Maintenance Assistant and Office Assistant.
The Project Search team is so extremely proud of these young adults and know they will be successful throughout this school year and in their future career positions.
