While most Nassau County students were enjoying their spring break, it was all business for the 51 Future Business Leader of America (FBLA) students that had earned a spot in the state competition. When the conference ended, Nassau County was well-represented at the awards ceremony. Leading the way was the Public Service Announcement Team from West Nassau High School (WNHS). Team members Destiny Armstrong, Ashton Bacon, and Lacey Libby built upon the success of their district competition win, they took first place and qualified to compete this summer in the national competition.

Students from the Hilliard Middle/Senior High (HMSHS) chapter and the NTCC (Bean Center) chapter also placed. HMSHS 8th grader Aiden Johnson placed 4th in the Digital Citizenship – Middle Level event. Tristan Rodenberry (HMSHS, 11th grade) placed 5th in the Computer Applications event. Logan Douglas, a WNHS senior and NTCC Entrepreneurship student, placed 5th in E-Business.

FBLA chapter advisors from Nassau County schools work hard to coach students, providing leadership and technical skills to prepare students for success after high school. Faith Sims (WNHS), Paul Mizenko (HMSH), and Brian Simmons (NTCC) sponsored this year’s crop of champions.
