Methamphetamine Lab Discovered - Local Woman Arrested

On June 22, 2012, a mobile methamphetamine laboratory was discovered and dismantled on Jamestown Road, near the Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport, and a local woman was arrested for the second time in less than a month.

Misty Gentry, thirty-six years of age, was arrested at the scene after she obtained and delivered pseudo-ephedrine and lithium batteries to be utilized in the production of methamphetamine.  Gentry also brought with her a plastic container that held camping fuel, a pill grinder, lye, fertilizer, plastic gloves, metal cutters, a whiskey bottle that had been converted into a gas generator and a jar of a yet unknown liquid.  The collection of items is consistent with those needed in the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Gentry admitted that she was attempting to utilize the chemicals and pseudo-ephedrine to manufacture methamphetamine at the location.  Gentry estimated that she could produce 5 to 6 grams of methamphetamine from the pseudo-ephedrine in her possession.

At the time of her arrest, Gentry was free on bond after having been arrested on May 25, 2012 for several methamphetamine charges.

A hazardous response vendor, contracted with the DEA Narcotics Task Force, responded to the scene and removed the hazardous chemicals and secured the area.
