Have you been to the Land Down Under?

D J Williams MD on the Ice at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station

No – not Australia or New Zealand. Going further south you find Antarctica. Can you imagine what it is like to live a day and a night (a year) on the Ice at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station?

This year, guest speaker at the Curtis Meltzer Memorial Lecture features D.J. Williams, MD. She will discuss her year-long experience at the South Pole and answer questions you have about the continent and her experiences. You can register for this event at https://amelialearning.com/. Or you may purchase your ticket at the door.

Location: Story & Song Bookstore Bistro, Second Story. 1430 Park Avenue at 14th Street, Fernandina Beach.

Day and Time: Sunday, October 6, 3-5 pm

Fee: $10. The first 20 registrations will receive the book “Antarctica: An Intimate Portrait of a Mysterious Continent” by Gabrielle Walker.

Amelia Lifelong Learning (ALL) lecture series honors Curtis Meltzer’s enthusiasm and support that helped create an independent non-profit organization with a mission to provide intellectual, social and cultural enrichment through short courses that promote learning and sharing of ideas.
