Despite some eleventh hour hiccups, former Nassau County Attorney Mike Mullin will return to the county in his former position effective March 2, 2015. Commissioners made the selection official today, February 11, 2015. Mullin has been in private practice with the law firm of Rogers Towers for the past 8 years. But he previously served as Nassau County attorney for 25 years between 1982-2007.

Although the Nassau County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously authorizing Board Chair Pat Edwards to sign the employment contract, both commissioners Steve Kelley and George Spicer initially opposed the contract on the grounds that it was too generous both in terms of salary and benefits.  Mullin’s total compensation package will come in around $200,000, about $4,000 higher than that of the late David Hallman, the previous county attorney.
