The Nassau County Sheriff's Office responded to an emergency call at approximately 3 p.m. Wednesday when a witness discovered the victim inside their home unconscious and bleeding.

According to witness statements, the attack followed an altercation between Nave and the victim, who were known to each other.

NCSO investigators arriving at the scene found the victim suffering from nine stab wounds. The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Following the attack, the suspect fled, prompting authorities to deploy air support and K9 units in an extensive search operation. After seven hours, officers located and apprehended Nave approximately one mile from the crime scene on Hirth Road at approximately 10:30 p.m. after a citizen spotted him and called it in.

“Violence of any kind will not be tolerated in our community,” Sheriff Bill Leeper stated. "I want to thank our deputies and detectives for their tireless efforts in apprehending the suspect and holding him accountable for his actions, as well as our citizens for being on the lookout for suspicious persons and assisting law enforcement.”

According to Nassau County Court records, Nave has been charged 41 times dating to 2004 for drug-related incidents, burglary, probation violations and various traffic infractions.
