Buy a Book, Help a Classroom

Amelia Indie Author Days Oct. 12 – 15

Starting Thursday, October 12th, you can help restore Florida schools that were severely damaged during Hurricane Irma simply by enjoying a good book. Just purchase one or more of the books on display at the new BuyGo Store (22 8 th Street) for a price you choose, and 100 percent of your money will go to the DonorsChoose.org Hurricane Irma Recovery Fund.

“Your support will help teachers at damaged schools rebuild their classrooms with materials like books, furniture, classroom supplies, technology, and therapy resources. 100% of public donations to the Hurricane Irma Recovery Fund will support classrooms damaged by the storm.” DonorsChoose.org

The fundraising event organized by six Amelia Island authors is scheduled to coincide with Indie Authors Day, October 14, when libraries and organizations around the world celebrate independent authors through education, networking, and more.

The four-day time frame allows more time for shoppers to view and choose books. The authors have donated books ranging in genres from business, children’s, and self-help to adventure and historical fiction. These are award-winning authors with names you may recognize: Berta Arias, Nancy Blanton, Terri Clements Dean, John Gilgren, Andrea Patten and James Weinsier. Other authors also may be joining. Books will be on display in the café area of BuyGo through Sunday, Oct. 15. This is a great opportunity to stock up for holiday gifts and upcoming birthdays. Pay what you want to, knowing you are also supporting an important cause. And, Amelia Indie Authors are social and will be posting announcements and updates on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. When you buy a book, take a selfie, post a picture and join the fun!

DonorsChoose.org is a 501(c)3 nonprofit with Charity Navigator's highest 4-star rating,

and a track record of helping U.S. public school teachers rebuild after disasters.
