A Yulee surf fisherman bagged a great white shark Tuesday on the shores of Amelia Island and videoed releasing it back into the ocean.
Alberto Vanegas posted on Facebook that he reeled in "a fish of a lifetime" off the coast of Amelia Island, a 9-10 foot long great white shark.
An avid surf fisherman, Vanegas said it started as a "normal day" of fishing at his favorite spot on Amelia Island. Using blackfin tuna head as bait, Vanegas said he was casting about 400 feet out when the line on his reel started taking off.
Vanegas said he started out fishing for bull sharks, but hooked the great white instead. He and his fellow fisherman released it after reeling it into shore.
Vanegas posted the catch on his Facebook page and received a lot of congratulations and positive feedback.
