According to the Florida Times Union, the hoped for state money to fund 2 million dollars in storm water improvements on North and South Fletcher Avenues in Fernandina Beach was vetoed by Florida Governor Rick Scott.

In addition, Scott vetoed 1 million dollars for the St Johns River Ferry.  On June 22, Senator Bean and Representative Adkins issued a joint press release announcing "the Legislature approved $1 million in state funding for the St. Johns River Ferry to continue making badly needed improvements and renovations," only to be disappointed a day later by Scott.

The Florida Times Union reports the following list of Nassau County projects stricken from the budget by Scott's veto:

■ Ark of Nassau County, $90,000

■ Nassau Alcohol Crime Drug Abatement Coalition, $50,000

■ Council on Aging community life center, $250,000

■ Fernandina Beach North Fletcher basin, $1 million

■ Thomas Creek flooding assistance, $350,000

■ Widening Old Dixie Highway, $1.5 million

■ Fletcher Road in Fernandina Beach, $1 million
