Promoting Aviation Education and Community Service
2019 winners of the Friends of Aviation National Flight Academy scholarship award/Nassau County middle school students stand proudly by an FA-18 during their six days at the National Flight Academy in Pensacola on scholarships provided by Friends of Fernandina Aviation. These 8th-graders attend St. Michael’s Academy, Fernandina Beach Middle School, and Yulee Middle School.
The academy introduces 7-12 graders to flight simulators and virtual reality aviation games, as well as other activities designed to educate and inspire them about aviation. The curriculum focuses on STEM skills in science, technology, engineering, and math, with a concentration on team problem solving.
