Nassau County Emergency Management:

#GetVaccinated should be on the pre-hurricane season "to do" list for everyone in the family.

Pets must have proof of current vaccinations (e.g., Rabies, Parvo, Distemper) in order to be admitted to a public shelter, but should have them all up-to-date before traveling anywhere.

People should be current on their shots, too! We know stress lowers your immunity to pathogens. Evacuations, crowded shelters, and post-storm conditions increase your likelihood of infection with the germs that cause Colds, Flu, Shingles, Pneumonia, Hepatitis, Tetanus, and CoViD-19.

8,476 people in Nassau County have tested positive for infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus (64 new since the last report) and 126 Nassau Residents have died from CoViD-19.

31,263 Nassau County residents are fully vaccinated; 3,821 others have had their first dose, but not the second.

Anyone age 12+ years can now be vaccinated against CoViD-19. Most people are less than five miles from a site offering the free vaccine. Go to Vaccines.gov to find a location for your preferred brand of vaccine.
