Fernandina Beach Business and Building Starts: December 2013

The Fernandina Observer welcomes the following businesses newly licensed to operate in our city last month.  Note that Florida Public Utilities is not new to the city, but has changed its location from S. 8^th Street to Amelia Island Parkway.

The City Building Department ended 2013 having surveyed 2,892 building permits during the year.  Of those, 80 represented new buildings, while mechanical permits (554), residential general building permits (412), electrical permits (406), roofing/reroofing permits (335) reflected the major categories of permits.  The total amount collected in fees for the year was $1,619,185.46.

Despite the holidays, the Building Department issued 6 permits for new single-family dwellings in December.  The remaining 185 permits surveyed for the month reflected a typical end-of-year decline in activity.
