Nassau County Council on Aging has funds available to assist individualsindividuals 60 years of age and up with paying their electric/utility bill when they are in a crisis situation. Seniors will need to call the Council on Aging at 904-261-0701 if they reside on the eastside of Nassau County (Fernandina/Yulee) and 904-845-3331 if they reside on the westside (Callahan/Hilliard) for an appointment. Qualifying seniors will need to present proof of household incomes, photo identification for all household members, social security cards, and past due electric/utility bill. If anyone in the household receives food assistance, they will need to present their SNAP award letter.

“We are delighted to offer this benefit to seniors in Nassau County. This is a federally funded program that’s designed to help income-limited senior citizens,” according to Janice Ancrum, Executive Director of the local non-profit agency.

In its 40th year of serving Nassau County Seniors, the Council on Aging is a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency, the highest level of charitable organization. We cheerfully deliver critical services to Nassau County seniors in five categories including Meals on Wheels, COA Transportation, In-Home Care, and Adult Day Health Care, while operating two senior recreation centers. We are funded by donations from private individuals and some government grants.
