Bohemian Bull is finally here. After what felt like a never-ending delay, the long-awaited tavern-style burger joint has officially opened its doors in Wildlight. Judging by the crowd packed into the place last week, people were more than ready.
I didn’t know what to expect going in, but I definitely wasn’t expecting the kind of crowd that wraps around the bar and spills out the front door. I went with a friend about a week after opening, and we ended up waiting close to an hour for a table. I don’t know if I’d call it understaffed, but they were absolutely over-attended.
Bohemian Bull bills itself as a modern tavern serving up burgers, craft beer, and a laid-back beer garden vibe. And visually, it nails that. The interior has a warm, wood-forward aesthetic that’s become the signature of new-school burger joints. Think polished rustic: taps lining the walls, a clean but casual bar area, and an outdoor patio that’ll be great once Florida cools off a bit.
We started with the fried mac and cheese bites. They came out as oversized triangles, which was unexpected but kind of fun. They were a little dry but the truffle mayo dipping sauce absolutely made up for it. That sauce is the star of the show. Dip generously, and you’re in for a good time.
It took a while for the food to arrive, and at one point, we nearly got someone else’s order entirely. The staff seemed unsure about what was going where. Some obvious miscommunication was happening, which I chalk up to early growing pains. To their credit, the staff was hustling and doing their best in what looked like a full-on dinner rush from open to close.
Eventually, our drinks arrived. Late, but completely worth the wait. I ordered a whiskey sour, and it was easily one of the best I’ve ever had. They use egg white, serve it in a tall, slender glass, and balance it just right. Tart, smooth, and seriously impressive. I’d go back for that drink alone.
For my main, I went with the “Getting Smashed” burger and fries. American cheese, thin-sliced onions, pickles, burger sauce — nothing fancy, which is exactly what I wanted. I wanted to see how they handled the basics, and this burger absolutely delivered. Crispy edges, juicy middle, and loaded with flavor. It’s not reinventing anything, but it doesn’t need to. This is just a really solid smash burger. The fries were classic shoestring, salted right, and not a thing to complain about.
My friend ordered the ahi bowl, which was a total departure from the rest of the meal. Raw ahi tuna over cilantro rice, dressed in a house sauce. He couldn’t stop raving about it. Said it was one of the best bowls he’s had in a while. Not what you’d expect to shine at a burger tavern, but it worked.
Bohemian Bull’s menu runs deep. Burgers, bowls, wings, handhelds, desserts. There’s plenty to explore. Right now, it’s still finding its rhythm, and you’ll probably feel that a bit during your visit. If you can handle the wait and don’t mind a little chaos, Bohemian Bull is already serving up good food in a place that feels like it belongs.
