A spirited but peaceful protest unfolded outside Congressman Aaron Bean’s Fernandina Beach office Monday, organized by Unified Nassau — a non-partisan coalition of concerned local citizens.
Approximately 45 people attended the demonstration to voice opposition to Congressman Bean’s recent vote in favor of what was dubbed the “Big Beautiful Bill,” signed into law by President Trump on July 4.
Holding signs and chanting messages of concern, participants cited specific objections to provisions in the bill, including proposed cuts to Medicaid, tax breaks they say disproportionately benefit billionaires, and potential reductions in funding for essential agencies like FEMA and NOAA.
The demonstration underscored growing unease among residents about the local impact of federal decisions and the perceived prioritization of wealthy interests over community well-being and disaster preparedness.

I'm ambivalent on the Bill.....some things I like and some I don't.....but that's how these "BIG" bills usually work. Too many moving parts.
But that is not a Non-partisan group protesting. I'm sure the vast majority is left leaning. However, they have a right to protest......that's part of the democracy process (just like the held sign says). Good for them. Hope they lasted more than an hour.

The Trump administration is hell bent on wrecking our country”s world leadership in three concerning ways: (1) gutting our science and medical research where we are the world leader; (2) dangerously damaging our financial stability and chasing away foreign dollar investors by reckless deficit spending;; and (3) continuing to increase our country’s income inequality by favoring the wealthy over the poor and middle class.
The bill contains all three elements. Why do politicians feel that we do not need to pay for government? We just borrow, borrow, borrow. You would not run your own business this way, nor your personal finances.
