The Nassau County Sheriff's Office and Nassau County Fire Rescue responded Sunday afternoon to assist passengers stranded on a disabled Amtrak train near the intersection of County Road 121 and Yellow Rose Lane.
A few passengers were transported to a local hospital for heat exhaustion treatment after being stranded for an extended period without adequate air conditioning.
The remaining passengers were transported to the Amtrak station in Jacksonville. The train was en route to Miami.
First Coast News reported more than 140 people were transferred to buses in order to get to their final destination, officials said.
