Amelia Island Brewing Company, a downtown staple better known to many as the Amelia Island Tavern, announced it will close its doors on Nov. 5 after nearly 10 years in operation.
In a heartfelt post on Facebook, the owners thanked customers and staff for their support since the restaurant first opened in 2016.
“We are proud of our charitable service in the community with our spaghetti dinners and donations to local chapters over the years, and through that have built amazing relationships,” the AIBC team wrote. “Sadly, the decision has been made to close our doors on November 5th.”
Located at the corner of Fourth and Centre streets in Fernandina Beach, Amelia Island Brewing Company became known for its lively tavern-style menu, locally brewed craft beers, and casual family atmosphere. The restaurant often hosted community fundraisers, including its well-attended spaghetti dinners that raised money for local causes.
The business originally launched as a brewpub under the Amelia Island Brewing Company brand before rebranding as the Amelia Island Tavern in recent years. It quickly became a favorite among locals and visitors alike, offering both indoor dining and outdoor seating in the heart of downtown.
Throughout its nearly decade-long run, AIBC not only served food and beer but also invested in the community. From donations to local nonprofits to providing a welcoming space for fundraisers, the tavern became a hub for giving back.
The owners emphasized that legacy in their farewell, urging the community to continue showing support for other small businesses.
“Support the businesses you love. Follow them on social media. Leave the kind review. Tell your friends. Show up for them, even in small ways,” the post said. “Those acts of support mean everything to the people behind the scenes: the servers, cooks, bartenders, managers, and owners who pour their hearts into what they do.”
As part of winding down operations, the restaurant announced it will no longer serve breakfast on weekends during its final stretch.
The last day of service will be Sunday, Nov. 5.
