Editor's Note: When the Historic Nassau County Courthouse Clock Tower had to be replaced, traffic came to a halt on Centre Street. I heard that the Nassau County Board of Commissioners considered not replacing the original clock tower which had to be removed because it was structurally unsound. Thanks to strong opposition from the community, a new clock tower was obtained. I'll leave it up to others to give a date as to when this work took place, and to chime in if they have more information. We hope you enjoy this look back in time.
Breaking News: Jayne Nasrallah, who is an archivist with the A.I. Museum of History has given us a date. According to Jayne, it was 1996 when the clock tower was replaced. Thank you Janye!
