Editor's Note: Susan Jordan and her husband made Amelia their home four years ago after Susan retired as a finance professor. She and her husband are avid birdwatchers and enjoy the variety of birds on the island." New to photography, Susan loves to photograph birds. According to Susan, the "Red-shouldered Hawk is fairly common on Amelia Island. They normally hunt reptiles, small mammals, and amphibians. She enjoys watching this hawk as it would fly from its perch to the ground to catch insects." To see more of her photographs visit #susan.jordan on Instagram. We thank Susan for her contribution to the Fernandina Observer.
