A beautiful evening at the Lesesne House

On Saturday November 14th the Lesesne House threw open its doors to the public for the first time in 150 years. The fundraising event for the Amelia Island Museum of History drew a large crowd dressed in clothes from the 1920’s Jazz Era. The Centre Street Gossips wore clothes of previous Lesesne House owners that were found in the attics.

The colorful guests whispered the password at the entrance to the ‘speakeasy’ where Marlin and Barrel Distillery’s bartender Johnny Miller had created a signature complimentary cocktail for the event, and they nibbled on appetizers from Horizons restaurant. Wonderful jazz tunes from Crescendo Amelia gave ambience to a fun filled evening.

Over the last few months Fernandina residents have watched with interest as this grand old house has been revitalized under the watchful eye and vision of a young family member and new owner. The Lesesne House is the Queen of Centre Street and we salute her and her dynamic young owner.
