Shrimp festival parade parking - what you need to know
The 2025 Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival kicks off Thursday, May 1 with the annual parade through historic downtown!
Parade Time:
Starts at 6 p.m. — Expect downtown road closures until around 8 p.m.
Traffic Alerts and Road Closures:
4 p.m. closures begin:
- Beech Street: Between S. 11th & S. 13th
- Atlantic Avenue: Between S. 8th & S. 13th
- S. 13th Street: From Atlantic Avenue to Beech Street
- S. 11th Street: From Atlantic Avenue to Beech Street
- Centre Street: Fully closed
- S. 8th Street: Closed Ash to Centre for parade crossing
Central Park is the official parade staging area and closes at 4 p.m.
No drop-offs, no parking, no access unless you are part of the parade.
Red Otter parking lot (Atlantic & S. 11th) is off-limits; no parking, drop-offs, or cut-throughs.
Expect Heavy Traffic:
Especially on S. 8th & S. 14th streets
Plan for congestion two hours before and one hour after the parade.

There is also a two-hour concert on Centre Street right after the parade.
Centre Street will be blocked off at Front and 2nd Streets.
