March Restaurant Inspections

Posted

Disclaimer: These records are sanitation and safety inspections conducted by the Division of Hotels and Restaurants on public food service establishments. Each inspection report is a "snapshot" of conditions present at the time of the inspection. On any given day, an establishment may have fewer or more violations than noted in their most recent inspection. An inspection conducted on any given day may not be representative of the overall, long-term conditions at the establishment. Information is updated weekly or you can search for the most recent records for a particular establishment using the DBPR Online Services.

Definitions of inspection terms are here.

I can’t help but be curious. How long has the inspector been employed?. Almost seems like someone is justifying a position. We all want to eat at a clean place. Just seems excessive. What exactly is an administrative complaint?

Alex, you can see all the violations if you click on link at the beginning of the list. I am surprised that your first reaction was to question the integrity of the inspector. I, for one, am glad he or she was so thorough and the visit resulted, in most cases, of remedial attention by the owners.

I was a food operator for many years up north. This seems excessive by anyone's standards and publishing the reports that have just small infractions (ie, don't conform to code as written) is doing nothing but harming these restaurants. The things I need to know as a consumer are: 1) Restaurant that were closed down 2) Holding temp infractions (and that they were corrected), 3) Vermin (rats/mice/roaches etc). I really don't need to know that a roll of paper towel was too close to a work area or a broom handle was improperly leaning on a work surface. Afer reading these week in & week out, It seems no restaraunt is able to get a good rating. The way most people skim headlines today and take in info, it's a HUGE disservice to a struggling industry. Should they be inspected...Yes. Should they be held accountable... Yes. But the mannrer in which this appears in your paper is not right.
