Glisson named Deputy City Manager

Former Fernandina Beach Interim City Manager Jeremiah Glisson has been named deputy city manager, announced new City Manager Sarah Campbell at Tuesday's city commission meeting.

Glisson, who served as the city's director of Operations and Public Works, was pressed into emergency service as the city's interim city manager last summer when Charlie George suffered a heart attack.  George died of complications from that event in August.

Glisson was a steadying force in guiding the city through the transition to Campbell being hired in September.  She is now in her third week in the city manager position.

Glisson began working for the city as a maintenance technician in 1998.  He was promoted to fleet manager of the city's 250 units in 2005, where he served for the next 16 years.

In 2021, Glisson was named director of Operations and Public Works, managing the city's vehicle fleet, facilities, streets maintenance, and sanitation divisions. In that position, he managed budgets and projects totaling $10 million and the leadership of 23 employees.

He attended Florida State College in Jacksonville with an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration and Management.

Glisson serves on the board of directors of Fernandina Beach Main Street.
